Vesta Mason Poe-Ellis passed into the loving arms of her Savior on June 7, 2017. Vesta was born on October 3, 1929 in Big Spring, Texas to Fred and Grace Mason. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Ellis; parents, William Frederick and Grace Franklin Mason; and brothers, Kenneth Mason and Larry Mason. She is survived by her daughter, Dana Poe Ogden and husband Ray of Plano, Texas; nephew Geordie Mason and wife Karen of Franklin, Tennessee; nieces, Mandy Mason Rhodes and husband Don of Odessa, Texas and Roni Mason Sturdivant and husband...

Vesta Mason Poe-Ellis passed into the loving arms of her Savior on June 7, 2017. Vesta was born on October 3, 1929 in Big Spring, Texas to Fred and Grace Mason. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Ellis; parents, William Frederick and Grace Franklin Mason; and brothers, Kenneth Mason and Larry Mason. She is survived by her daughter, Dana Poe Ogden and husband Ray of Plano, Texas; nephew Geordie Mason and wife Karen of Franklin, Tennessee; nieces, Mandy Mason Rhodes and husband Don of Odessa, Texas and Roni Mason Sturdivant and husband Gerald of Lubbock, Texas. Vesta moved to Odessa with her family in 1935 and graduated from Odessa High School in 1947. She retired from Ector County in 1994 after working in the County and District Clerks office for over 25 years. In 2005 she married Jim Ellis and moved to Spring, Texas. After Jim's passing in 2010, she moved to Plano, Texas to be closer to her daughter. She was a life-long Methodist and while living in Odessa, an active member of First United Methodist Church of Odessa. She enjoyed traveling, dancing and oil painting but her most joy came from being with her family. A visitation will be held 6 - 8 pm Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Wednesday, June 14, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
